Why won’t you heal me?

This week just past, I did a course called “For your life” by Grow In Health ministries www.growinhealth.org.uk.  I went there to find out the root issues of some of my medical issues, but came away with a powerful set of tools that will enable me (if applied) to walk in not only health, but holiness – to BECOME the bride of Christ!  (I pray that I, and every true believer applies this truth).

Most of us in the Christian church are waiting, or praying prayers that say something like this: “if God loves me, He’ll take care of me”.  Or we will say, “take this evil desire away from me Lord – give me a new heart, a clean heart!”.  Or – “Jesus completed everything on the cross and God now sees me as He sees Jesus.  It is all done on the cross, and there’s nothing I need to do”.

But there is something we need to do.  In the book of Revelation we can see that we are called to be overcomers.

  1. Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
  2. Rev 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
  3. Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
  4. Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
  5. Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
  6. Rev 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
  7. Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
  8. Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

So we are called to overcome – to REPENT:

We know that God knew us before the foundations of the world (Jer 1:5), but we were conceived in sin: “For I was born a sinner–yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.” Psalm 51:5.

But Jesus came so that you might be restored back into the “real you”.  That we would separate ourselves from everything that is false and untrue that we have been agreeing with – subtly or obviously.  (When we agree that Satan’s word is true over God’s Word we are actually fellowshipping at the table of devils).  Jesus died to give us the ability (Grace) to be able to become true son’s and daughters of God – to discern what is false and what is true – to choose life and become overcomers.  Mercy is the time frame God gives us to respond to His Truth.

The Word says if you love God you will keep His commandments.

Ezekiel 18:31: Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!

You make yourself a new heart and a new spirit.  We have to deal with it!

To paraphrase an article I recently read from Be In Health (www.beinhealth.com):
the Christian church is trying to resist the devil, but we are in disobedience.  If God says to forgive your neighbour, you’d better forgive him. If God says to walk in love, you’d better walk in love. If God says you’ve not been given a spirit of Fear, you’d better start dealing with it – breaking the agreement you have with it, and telling it to go.  This is the crux of it.

We might excuse these things saying “Sally is just having a bad day”, or “Billy is just a grumpy person” – but no, this is sin operating through that person – and that person has agreed Satan’s word as truth in their life over God’s Word.  But it is not the person doing it, but rather the sin in that person!  So we still love the person, but hate the sin!  We need to separate ourselves from the sin – to recognize it, take responsibility that we have agreed with the lie, renounce it (repent) and remove it in the name of Jesus.

What you don’t deal with will deal with you.  What you are cohabiting with in your life would love to destroy you. Your enemy, Satan, has a master plan. Satan wants to destroy you.

So it’s because of the fall that we have the ability to know what is good and what is evil.  I say “ability” because most of us are or have been deceived into calling good evil, and evil good – at least to some degree.  Most of us are still on babies milk, but a sign of maturity in Hebrews 5:14 is strong meat which belongs to those who by reason of exercise of their senses are able to discern both good and evil.

Are we saved by faith and grace?  YES!  We can not do one thing in our own strength, but Jesus has taken the keys of death and hell, and on that cross He has give us the ability (through faith and grace) to start living in victory – to be true son’s and daughters of His Kingdom right now.

But HOW do we apply this finished work in our lives?  Stay tuned for the next article, where I will share the keys of truth that were taught to me.  How the things we agree with in our minds – that pretend to be us – are actually not us, but rather the enemy pretending to be us, so that we become one with the lie and the sin.

Are you prepared? (notes from a sermon)

What am I preparing for?

1Cor29 – the eye has not seen or the ear heard what God has in store for those who love Him

John 14:2 – God has prepared a place for us

The day is coming if not already here where if we are not lead by the spirit (His voice) we will be washed overboard.

We are going to need to be supporting each other.

1Chron12 – they knew the times and what Israel should do.

We need men and women today who know what to do.  Who know the character of God, the voice of God.

We are in a season of preparation before a battle.  It’s too late to get ready after the battle starts.

Am I willing to prepare the way if the Lord in my community, church, or family.

Mat 11:10. I will send a messenger ahead of you.

Things we need to do:
– be born of the spirit of God with Jesus as Lord of my life in every area
– spend time regularly in Gods Word
– spend time in Gods presence talking to Him and wait for hear from Him
– allow yourself to be sharpened and held accountable by other believers
– walk in a lifestyle of forgiveness
– keep short accounts of what God is doing
– develop a sensitivity to the operation of Holy Spirit
– experimentally walk in Holy Spirit
– walk in obedience to the last thing God told you

The area of Discernment:  There are many good people who have been ship wrecked.

1John4.  Mat 7:15. False prophets will be recognised by their fruit.  1Thes5:19   2Pet2. False teachers arose in their midst – debauched lifestyles  1Tim4:1. Some will depart the faith and occupy themselves with false teachings.

Spending time in the Word of God and with Him you WILL discern the voice of God.

“No Compromise” – watch out for mixture.

2Kings4:38.  When there is a famine in the land, people will eat anything. We do not want to be people of God who will eat anything.

Be careful what you feed yourself on.  We need to move more in the prophetic, but what you feed yourself on will come out so be careful.

Adding something you are unfamiliar with can bring deadly consequences.  Dont add to the scriptures.

Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.  In the verse above, they added the flour (Word of God) and it was able to be dished out to those who were hungry.  There was a man of God who knew what to do and many were fed.

How does mixture get in? (article by Peter Horrobin)
– ignorance of the enemy
– unhealed leaders
– false prophecy

There are many counterfeits – recall counterfeit note example.

Be ware of who lays hands on you especially on your head.

Josephs tests (notes from a sermon)

Dream at 17 – walked into it at 30.  Lots of tests and trials on the way.

1. Pride test. Gen 37:5-11 (Is my mouth saved? The root is insecurity).
2. The pit test. Gen 37:18. (Makes us totally obedient and reliant on God). The key is obedience to God and walking it.  A key to this is hearing the Word of God.
3. The purity test. Gen 39:7-12.
4. The prison test. Gen 39:19-20 (Can I handle false accusation – rather believe what God says about me). Joseph was there from 18-30!  How do I handle injustice?  Do not let it change my relation with Jesus. Tribulation produces perserverance, which produces character which produces hope with produces Gods things Amen!
5. Prophetic test. 1Cor 13:9. Hang on to those promises like Abraham.  Seal them in your heart.
6. The power test. Gen 41:1. How do I handle disappointment? Rom 11:29
– Gods gift and call are irrevokable. There needs to be enough wisdom and discernment to have a plan.  Joseph had a plan to act on the dream (7 years of plenty and 7 years of little).
7. The prosperity test. Gen 41:25-36.  Did he continue to give God the glory.
8. The pardon test. Gen 50:15-21. God will repay, not us.
9. The purpose test. Gen 45:3-8. God sent Joseph ahead to save the tribes of Israel

Discover my gift and direction.  Know that you know.  Don’t have an Ishmael – know Gods timing.  Don’t rush ahead or lag behind.  Be ready to get out of the boat, take risk.  Make life choices to disentangle yourself eg debt.  Seek first the kingdom of God.  The time is now.  Completely surrender and totally focus.  “It is this one thing I do”.  Personal time becomes a privilege and not a right.  Be lead by the spirit, crucify the carnal nature.  Go to the holy of holies.  Keep going when the going gets tough. Don’t count like the world would – don’t necessarily look for success “well done good and faithful (not successful) servant”.  Leave the provision to God.  He will grant favour and the material resources will be given to you. Do your part and God will do His.

Wild at heart weekend (John Eldridge)

Story of the tallents.  The issue is the 3rd guy didn’t like or trust that master, and that’s why he was cast in to outer darkness. The inaction or inability to RISK anything

Your actions will speak louder than your words.

God will change the story on us to develop us.  Look at all the leading men in the bible, none had a “safe” comfortable time.

Little boys need 2 things:
1) to know they are loved
2) validation that they are a man

The whole thing is a battle for the heart.  Who am I going to serve with my thoughts and actions?  Who am I going to agree with?  God just wants us to trust Him and fellowship with Him.

Desire is where the action is.  Paralized man at the river, Jesus asks him if he wants to be healed. It’s about the desire.

At the fall, it’s significant that they covered themselves – they didn’t want to be seen for who they really were.  Also, passivity of men at this point.  “Do I have what it takes?”.  We pose and hide behind things to become a false self.

When you meet a man you aren’t meeting the real thing – you are meeting a man in hiding.  We put our fig leaf forward because we don’t want to get hurt, or exposed etc to the real you.  “Do I have what it takes” – this is what drives the construction of the fig leag.  It’s a search for validation.  Ultimate fear for men is failure.

Inside every posing man is a wounded boy.

God disrupts the posing man (eg stop achieving at work etc) in order to bring him back and heal him.

The enemy knows our weaknesses.  He tailor makes things.  What he is looking for is an agreement that we accept it as our own.  Once accepted, this is the filter we see the world through.

Look for the agreement behind bad fruit.

Agreements to break
–  I can’t trust anyone
– People just let you down
– If it is to be it’s up to me
– I am not normal
– I can’t relate to people because i cant talk “rubbish”
– I won’t have enough
– I can’t trust God
– I might have committed a sin which will block Him from being able to help me and I’ll be left high and dry
-That I can’t fully trust Jesus because I will sabotage His power and be left in a bad place.
– That I will walk outside the plumbline and be exposed to the enemys work and therefore if I walk in faith it will be misplaced and I’ll be in trouble

What makes me come alive?
– relationships
– fixing things
– technology
– creating things / inventing things

Tips on hearing from God:
1) Ask simple questions (not urgent questions) – pressure kills everything it touches.  Ask simple questions without urgency and drama, and give Him time to answer.  Answers can be in the moment, a scripture, through someone, a truck, still small voice etc.
2) Surrender (an issue of the heart), where you are willing to hear “NO”.  “I am willing to hear anything you want to hear me”.  It’s often harder to hear the good things. “You can say yes or no, I surrender to you”.
3) Ask the next question.  “Can I change careers” – yes!  “When?” – 2 years. Etc

On big stuff, GET CONFIRMATION!!!  Test the spirits.

Busyness is your enemy.  Fight it – something has to go – what is it?  It’s hard to find God in the busyness.  Where you find your heart, you’ll find God – what is it that makes you come alive.

Religion is your enemy.

Do not rush the field – walk with God and get your instructions from God.  Get confirmation.

It can get worse before it gets better, but it will get better:
– fight it
– resist it
– pray it

Do not walk alone.  Satans plan is to divide and conquor.  You need a few men and women for the journey.  Jesus had the 3 and the 12.  You must have at least a few people who want what you want – life!!  John Eldridge doesn’t eg travel alone as there are too many temptations out there.

5 rocks to build your life on from advertisty (notes from a sermon)

God gives us the ability to overcome.

1) Dont ask “why” that happened eg Job lost it all in a moment. Job 13:15 though He slay me, yet I will trust Him.

2) Source.  Don’t try and find out where the problem came from (was it the govt, etc).  Avoid the blame culture.  John 9:1-3, Luke 13:1-5, James4:5-6.

3) Attitude. How we react to things going on in your life.  The reaction can be more important than the issue itself.  James 1:2. Attitude is the key.

4) Context or state of things. Phil 4:13 “can do all things through Christ” – however context is in 4:11. When I find myself in a context that’s completely different, I can get through it.

5) Process. Romans 8:26-28. All things work for good for those who love God.  God is looking at the longer term process. Be careful not to think that God gave me this broken arm etc.  God will teach us something but he has not given it to you.

Hillsong Conference 2008 (notes from a sermon)

Joseph Prince The last days will be dark so that the light will shine and all can see.

Casey treat.  Do I want Gods stuff or do I want Him?  God rewards those who dillegently seek after Him. Hebrews 6.

What is it that I seek after? What is important and valuable to me.

What you pursue defines your life.

God wants to see how badly I really want it. Even if you are tired you still need to pursue. It could be multiples of years.

How you feel doesn’t change what you are pursuing!!!

James 4:7 – submit to God and the devil will flee. Draw near to me and I’ll draw near to you.

Paul – laboured more than the other apostles for God. There is work required on our behalf.

The following show our pursuit for God:
– Prayer life.  Not just programs but quality. Do you spend 4 hours on tv then 2 verses of the Bible.
– Praise life. Not just at church.
– Meditation on His Word.
– Our focus on His vision for our lives
– Praying in the Holy Spirit

Matt 7. Ask and it will be given. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened unto open. Why do i need to do all of these things when only one should do it? Gods is seeing how much you really want it.

Faith that believes it and sees it and never gives up.

1 Daniel 7.  Even David was harrased by the Devil and had to dilligently pursue the Lord.

Why the pusiit?
– energizes your vision and desire
– stires our creativeness
– focussed on a specific purpose.

Be dillogent until you obtain it – purpose driven (not circumstance driven).
