Eat of the flesh, drink of the blood

John 6:35: Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. The one who comes to me will never go hungry, and the one who believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Having heard this so many times before, I only just got a revelation of what this means!  The one who comes to Jesus gets the bread (His body ie. Him ie. the Word made flesh), and the one who believes will never be thirsty (ie. His blood ie. His sacrifice ie. His Grace for healing and wholeness ie the power to overcome!!!).

In other words, when we come to Jesus (having been drawn by the Father), we will eat and be filled with Truth from His Word (i.e Him). So we will never hunger after truth again.  A lack of truth makes us very hungry, and often we fill ourselves with wrong things to try and fill the emptyness!

Then, once we have a feeding (daily) of this Truth, He promises that we will never be thirsty which indicates a yearning of our physical bodies to be nourished which is really saying that by His blood we are healed! Drinking of His blood is really about FAITH and BELIEVING! Our FAITH is what will make us well once we feed on His Word!! Amen!

Also now, consider this in the context of the parable of the feeding of the five thousand(John 6:12).  Jesus didn’t just do this to demonstrate His power to perform natural miracles, He did this to show that He is the bread of life, and He is the Word – so this is really talking about a miracle of His Word multiplying and feeding many and having plenty left over for others.
