Our time on earth is our job interview

Our spirits are saved when we confess Jesus as Lord and get baptised, and this grants us a relationship with Jesus, and means we go to Heaven.

However, there is so much more than this.  God’s Kindgom is a kingdom, with power and authority and structure!

Our time here on earth, apart from preaching the good news etc, is also about proving our character (do we give in to the enemy, or do we overcome via grace and faith?).  The time we spend on earth now shows how trustworthy we acutally are and therefore what position we are able to handle in God’s government.

Jesus won’t put anyone of bad character in charge of His Kingdom, and the only way our chatacters can be tested is when there are things against us to test us.  In Heaven there will be no such tests – which is our time on earth is actually our job interview for the position we will take in Heaven.

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. “

Losing heart – what it looks like

An example could be, making a major purchase.  You know that you should do proper research on it, but something inside of you is just driven to get that deal completed – now!  The ungodly urgency pushes you to buy the item, but after you have done it, you then spend hours (all of a sudden you now have the time to do the research) and scan the internet to see if you could have bought it cheaper.  And of course you could have, because you didn’t do your homework properly.  You then LOSE HEART because of the loss you suffered.

This is a classic enemy tactic – to create ungodly urgency (an internal drivenness to complete something), and then once you have done what it demands, you see that you rushed in to the decision.

Proverbs 19:2 “Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes”.

Another example of this would be to sell a stock/share.  Inside there is a secret fear that no matter what day or hour you sell it, it will be the wrong timing.  So you go ahead and sell, because you need the cash.  Instead of being happy that you have made the right decision, you then watch the stock for days, weeks or months afterwards.  And if it does climb in value (ie. you sold too early), then you LOSE HEART.

Here the enemy is playing on fear of lack – not having enough, as well as a lack of trust in God to provide.

Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”

DO NOT ALLOW THE ENEMY TO MAKE YOU LOSE HEART!  THIS IS ONE WAY OF HIM TAKING YOU DOWN.

Relationship with God

One of the fruit of being born again is in knowing that you have a relationship with Jesus Christ and God the Father.

I fear that a lot of the church has an “imagined” relationship with God.  That is, they have never really experienced a true relationship with God, so they imagine that they have this relationship – but they really don’t.  Maybe they think that serving God is having a relationship with Him.  Or that going to Church on Sunday and listening to the message is having a relationship with Him.  NONE of these things indicate a relationnship with God.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:
– Do you fellowship with God? (e.g. tell Him about your day, how things are going etc) and have Him respond to you in some way you can recognise?
– Do you think of Him on and off all day? (ie. do you love Him?)
– Can you “hear” His voice?
– Does He direct your path?
– Do you consult God on decisions you need to make?

We are made Spirit, Soul and Body.  (1 Thes 5:23).  Unless our spirits are born again they can not connect with Gods spirit (Holy Spirit) and then there can not be any relationship with God.  (John 3:5).

if you are truely honest with yourself, and the answer is that you have never really experienced this true fellowship with God, I’d like to encourage you to have someone pray for you to be baptised in the Holy Spirit.

Condemnation, trust and lies

Why are we so quick to believe the enemy’s lies that seek to condem us?  The enemy is an expert at mixing truth with lies – quick to point the finger when sin occurs and tell of judgement and eternal condemnation.  Why aren’t we secure in Gods love of us?

1 John 2:1 “My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if
anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He
is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.”

What is the root of our inability to trust God?  Why do we find it hard to believe that God will complete the good work He started in us?  (Phil 1:6).

Why is it that we unable to rest without the knowledge that I have taken all the necessary steps to ensure that things are in hand?  Because surely if I have taken the steps in my strength, then all must be well!  Why are we so sure of ourselves but not of God?  Why is it so hard to trust?!  (2 Chron 20).

Why do I so easily believe the enemies lies about me?
